CHRISTIAN-JEWISH DIALOGUE SERIES The 2010-2011 Pittsburgh Area Jewish Committee’s Christian-Jewish Dialogue
series will begin with the subject of abortion at noon on Thursday, Sept. 2,
at Church of the Redeemer, 5700 Forbes Ave. in Pittsburgh’s Squirrel
Hill neighborhood. The program is free and open to the public. Conveners are
Rabbi Jamie Gibson, the Rev. Cynthia Bronson-Sweigert, Father Dan Valentine

CHILDHOOD OBESITY EPIDEMIC
The Mercy Parish Nurse and Health Ministry Program will host “America’s
Childhood Obesity Epidemic: Parish Nurses can make a Difference” on Wednesday,
Sept. 8, from 5:30-8 p.m. at UPMC Mercy in Pittsburgh’s Uptown neighborhood,
and repeated on Saturday, Sept. 11, from 9 a.m.-noon. The program will be presented
by Julianne Hagan, registered nurse and dietitian. Registered nurses will receive
two continuing education credits. Cost is $15 per person, or free to those

DIVORCED AND SEPARATED SUPPORT GROUP – MEETINGS
STARTING ON SEPTEMBER
13 The Divorced and Separated support group jointly
sponsored by Sts.
John & Paul,
St. Richard and St. John Neumann parishes will begin its next 13 week cycle
of meetings on Monday, September 13, 2010. This group provides caring support
to anyone who is experiencing the pain of separation or divorce. Meetings
are on Monday evenings from 7:00-8:45 PM and are held at St. Richard Church in
Rooms 5A & B of the Social Hall from 7:00-8:45

St. Richard Church is located at 3841 Dickey Rd. in Gibsonia, PA. Dickey Rd.
is approximately 1.25 miles west of Rt. 8 or 5.0 miles east of Rt. 19 or 7.5

BEGINNING EXPERIENCE: A RETREAT FOR GRIEVING SINGLES
The loss of a spouse through death, separation or divorce is one of life’s
most traumatic experiences leading to nearly unbearable feelings of loneliness
and grief. The Beginning Experience weekend program helps grieving single-again
persons travel through the darkness of their grief toward the future with renewed
hope. The next weekend will be held October 1-3, 2010 at the Gilmary Center in
Moon Twp., PA. Payment arrangements and possible financial assistance are available.
