Christ the Divine Teacher, Chippewa Township

Christ the Divine Teacher was established on June 2, 1969.  The first Mass of the parish was celebrated in St. Mary Cemetery Chapel on June 7, 1969.  Until the church was built, Mass was celebrated in a local restaurant.  Ground for the church was broken on July 26, 1970.  The first Mass was celebrated in the new church on March 27, 1971, and the building was dedicated on May 31, 1971.  Additional work in the church was done in 1974, including the installation of the pews.  The church continues to serve the congregation today.
