A committee of Catholics living in the West End petitioned the bishop for permission to form a parish, which would become St. Martin

 
 
1903

A committee of Slovaks living in Tarentum began raising funds for a church, which would become St. Clement

 
 
1909

Dedication of St. Luke Church, Bentleyville.  This was actually the third attempt to build a church.  The first church, a frame structure, was blown over by high winds before it could be completed.  A second church, also a frame church, burned down before it could be completed.  For the third attempt to build a church, the congregation decided to use bricks instead of wood.  This third attempt succeeded.

Fire destroyed the first St. Joseph Church, Mt. Oliver

St. Raphael Temporary Home & Day Nursery closed

Ground broken for St. Joseph School, Coraopolis

Fire struck the second Holy Rosary Church, Homewood, which had been replaced by the third church and converted to a school annex and auditorium.  The building was so badly damaged that it was later torn down.
