In response to the efforts of Lithuanians living in the South Side to form a parish, a Lithuanian priest from the Scranton Diocese celebrated Mass and preached in Lithuanian in the basement of St. Paul Cathedral.  Shortly afterwards, the parish of St. Casimir was formed
