The first Mass of St. Nicholas Parish, Millvale celebrated in a former carriage house on the property purchased for the church
The second St. Cecilia School, Rochester opened
In response to a dwindling congregation, the St. Malachy, South Side church committee passed a resolution to sell the parish property to the Pittsburgh & Lake Erie Railroad. This was the result of industry squeezing out the congregation. As early as 1913 a priest arriving in the parish was quoted as describing his parish as "railroads to the left, railroads to the right, railroads overhead, and for something extra fancy, an ore dump in the back yard."

Fire damages the second St. Colman Church, Turtle Creek. Rather than repair the church, the parish decided to raze it and to build a new church
