A committee of Catholics living in Glassport, formed to explore the possibility of creating a parish in Glassport, purchased land for a church, which became St. Cecilia

Bishop John Wright established the diocesan Fund for Aid of Neighbors in Need to assist groups created to help people help themselves alleviate problems with poverty
