Sacred Heart, Emsworth
Sacred Heart was established in 1891. Before the establishment of the parish, local Catholics had to travel to St. Mary in Glenfield to attend Mass. On February 22, 1891, a committee of local Catholics met to discuss plans for a new church. Work on the church began later that year. The completed building was dedicated on February 21, 1892.
This original church served the congregation for over 50 years. On November 21, 1954, ground was broken for a new church. The cornerstone was blessed on June 26, 1955, and the completed building was dedicated on December 10, 1955. This church continues to serve the parish today.
