St. John Neumann, Franklin Park

St. John Neumann parish was established on July 2, 1979.  The impetus for the parish formation was the growth of the North Hills suburbs of Pittsburgh.  The population increase overwhelmed the capacities of the existing churches, so an additional parish was created.  The first Mass of the new parish was celebrated on July 8, 1979, in the Franklin Park Fire Hall.  For the next three years, the parish celebrated Mass in either the fire hall or in the Heritage United Presbyterian Church.  Ground for the church was broken on September 13, 1981, and the completed church was dedicated on May 23, 1982.
