St. Nicholas, Millvale-North Side
St. Nicholas was established in 1994 as a Croatian parish as part of the diocesan reorganization and revitalization project. The parish was formed by the merger of St. Nicholas, North Side and St. Nicholas, Millvale. Both of these parishes were Croatian. Both churches remained open at first, but it soon became obvious that the parish could not support two church buildings. After the turn of the century, the parish conducted a study by the parish's financial and pastoral councils and a survey of parishioners to determine what to do. The study and survey concluded that the church on the North Side should be closed due to the declining congregation and the costs of repairing the North Side building. The final Mass in the church on the North Side was celebrated on December 7, 2004.
