“Every human being has dignity as a person, like the Holy Trinity; every human being is capable of knowing self, like the Holy Trinity; every human being can enter into communion with other persons, like the Holy Trinity. God places human beings at the summit of all creation.” - The Church Living, Bishop David A. Zubik
The inner life of the Trinity, the harmony, the self emptying love, the deference given to the other, characteristic of the relations between the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, is to be resembled in the relationships among people.
The transformation of the world is a fundamental requirement of our time. To this need the Church's social Magisterium intends to offer the responses called for by the signs of the times, pointing above all to the mutual love between human beings, in the sight of God, as the most powerful instrument of change, on the personal and social levels. Mutual love, in fact, sharing in the infinite love of God, is humanity's authentic purpose, both historical and transcendent. (# 55 Compendium of the Social Doctrine)
The goal of the Department for Human Dignity is to promote Catholic social doctrine and to build the capacity of the diocesan Church to pray earnestly and act effectively in defense of human dignity, the family, social justice and global solidarity.
