OPENING DOORS

 

The Opening Doors Program is an educational awareness program of the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh about understanding persons with disabilities.

The program is designed for students, grades K through 12, in Catholic Schools, Religious Education and Youth Groups.

 

Staff of the Department for Persons with Disabilities, persons with disabilities, and representatives of agencies who serve people with disabilities share with students the needs, gifts and challenges surrounding various disabilities.

PURPOSE

PROGRAM

The goal of the program is to encourage students . . .

  • To see people with
    disabilities through the eyes of Christ.

  • To dispel any myths or
    misconceptions they may have about people with disabilities.

  • To grow in knowledge and
    understanding of disabilities.

  • To open their hearts to
    welcome people with disabilities into friendship.
