Mission Statement The purpose of this ministry is to assist persons in areas where their loss of vision interferes with the practice of their religion. Services Assistance in getting braille, large print or cassette tapes. Days of Reflection and Renewal for persons with vision impairments. Parish hymnals made to order in braille and large print. Training in ministerial roles in the church. Pastoral support to parents, family and caregivers. Parishes, family members and friends are asked to contact this office either by mail or by phone with the names, phone numbers and addresses of persons who have impaired vision. |

This picture book is about two young children who are blind. The two children share with the reader their experiences of being blind. Along with seeing them in everyday activities, the reader will learn of their great love of their faith and how they grow in learning about Jesus.

Evangelization Committee
The Evangelization Committee is a core group of people with visual impairments who assist the Department for Persons with Disabilities in providing educational, and spiritual resources and programs for persons with visual impairments. Tours of Saint Paul Cathedral
We are excited to announce a wonderful opportunity for persons with vision impairment. St. Paul Cathedral in Oakland is now offering “A Pilgrimage Tour in the Shape of the Cross for Visitors with Vision Impairment.”
The tour has been specifically designed to allow the symbols of our faith that are so prominent in the Cathedral to be experienced through touch. A description of the windows that depict the history of salvation is available for braille readers.
Tours are offered on Sunday at 1:15 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. and daily at 2:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m. There is a limit of 3 persons with vision impairment per tour. Allow 1 hour and 15 minutes for the tour. You must call in advance. If you would like to schedule a tour please call the St. Paul Cathedral rectory at 412-621-4951.
Xavier Society for the Blind
Xavier Society for the Blind is a small non-profit organization founded in 1900 by a Jesuit priest. Its mission of helping to make God’s Word accessible is inspired by Christ’s ministry on earth, “that those without sight may see.” Xavier provides religious and inspirational materials in braille, large print, and audiocassette.
Persons who are blind, deafblind, severely visually-impaired and those who cannot read or handle standard print materials are eligible.
