Introduction to Parish Pastoral Councils

In 2006 the Diocese of Pittsburgh intentionally focused on upgrading the quality of pastoral councils. A document entitled Interim Parish Pastoral Council Guidelines Diocese of Pittsburgh was published on March 26, 2007. In October 2008, eighteen months into this process, the diocese will consult with parishes as part of a formal evaluation of these interim guidelines to determine what, if any, changes are required in light of the actual experience of parishes in implementing the guidelines. The major change from parish councils to parish pastoral councils is a change in emphasis; from a political or coordinating process to a Gospel, faith filled visioning and planning process.
