Good Samaritan

Good Samaritan was established on July 2, 1994.  The parish was formed by the merger of the five parishes then existing in Ambridge:  Christ the King, Divine Redeemer, Holy Trinity, St. Stanislaus and St. Veronica.  Of the five churches, Divine Redeemer was closed and later sold.  At first the other four churches remained open.  However, as the decade progressed, it became obvious that the congregation could not support four church buildings.  In 2001, the parish began a three year study to determine how many of the churches the parish should retain.  The study showed that only St. Veronica Church should remain open.  The final Mass of Holy Trinity Church was celebrated on November 7, 2004.  The final Mass of St. Stanislaus was celebrated on November 14, 2004 and the final Mass of Christ the King was celebrated on November 21, 2004.  On December 11, 2004, St. Veronica Church was renamed and dedicated as Good Samaritan Church.
