Parish History
St. Winifred was established in December 8, 1960. The founding of the parish was the result of the growth of population in Mt. Lebanon after World War II. The first Mass of the new parish was celebrated on December 11, 1960, in the auditorium of South Hills Catholic High School. Work on a church began soon afterwards. The cornerstone of the new church was laid on August 2, 1963, and the first Mass in the new church was celebrated on October 13, 1963. The church was formally dedicated on April 26, 1964.
