The Catholic Committee on Scouting, which has existed for over 50 years, works with the Scouting Program through the Department for Youth and Young Adult Ministry. They are a volunteer group of Catholic leaders from Boy Scouts, Camp Fire USA, and Girl Scouts. These men, women and the Diocesan Youth Council (DYC) representatives encourage youth in religious training and values, promote principles of Scouting, and instruct youth to strive for Catholic religious awards and emblems.
Scout Convocation - April 29, 2012
This spring event is an annual Mass celebrated with a bishop and other clergy at St. Paul Cathedral, during which the religious awards/emblems that were earned by Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Capm Fire members are blessed and distributed: Ad Altare Dei; Pope Pius XII; Kateri Tekakwitha; Marian; St. Elizabeth Ann Seton; or The Spirit Alive Awards. Adult Religious Awards are also presented at this Convocation for the St. Anne, St. George, The Bishop Leonard and Pope Paul VI Unit Awards.
Catholic Scout Retreat - January 28, 2012
This one day retreat is designed for the Scouts working on the Ad Altare Dei, Pope Pius XII, Kateri Tekakwitha, Marian, St. Elizabeth Anne Seton or The Spirit Alive Emblems. Leaders and religious counselors who are working with the youth in preparation for these emblems are also invited to attend this special day. There is a fee for the retreat that includes, food, activities, supplies, and a patch.
