Faithful Citizenship

How does our Faith – and our understanding of the dignity of all human life – infuse our participation in political life?

On seven dates from January through March, representatives of the Diocese of Pittsburgh will offer presentations on the U.S. Bishops’ document, Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship. The presentation will examine our obligations as Catholics to be active in the political process and to vote with an informed conscience. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Please refer to the flyer for a full list of dates and sponsoring parishes. RSVP is requested. PDF Flyer

ANSWER THE CALL TO FAITHFUL CITIZENSHIP: JOIN THE LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY NETWORK

“Faithful citizenship calls Catholics to see civic and political responsibilities through the eyes of faith and to bring our moral convictions to public life.” — US Catholic Bishops, Faithful Citizenship: A Catholic Call to Political Responsibility, 2003

The Legislative Advocacy Network is a means of answering the call to be Faithful Citizens. When a piece of legislation or a public policy issue emerges on which the Church takes a stand, an Action Alert is emailed to Network members.

These brief Action Alerts contain an explanation of the issue and an invitation to contact involved legislators. With this information in hand, the Network members can encourage and challenge legislators to vote for those bills that enhance human life and dignity, and against those bills that do not. It’s a simple way to stay informed and involved.

To join the Legislative Advocacy Network, please fill out this form, or call 412-456-3157. Thank you!
