In continued alignment with local and state public health and wellness guidelines and recommendations, the Diocese of Pittsburgh is preparing to allow Churches to reopen for private prayer, and the Sacrament of Reconciliation, as well as continuing directives regarding small weddings and funeral Masses.

The principal of Northside Catholic Assumption Academy in Pittsburgh’s Brighton Heights neighborhood is joining students and parents in expressing thanks during Teacher Appreciation Week (May 4-8).

Each evening at 7 p.m. the Lamb family gathers around a Zoom screen to pray the Rosary with Father Adam Potter and about 400 other people who have become their spiritual community during the coronavirus lockdown.

To acknowledge the work of all teachers in the Diocese of Pittsburgh as part of Teacher Appreciation Week (May 4-8, 2020), Bishop David Zubik shared a video blessing for teachers, saying, “May you feel the power of our prayers for you during this entire week.”

Teaming up with a group from Holy Sepulcher Parish in Glade Mills, Maddy has been helping sew cloth coverings for patients at Butler Memorial Hospital and residents at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where her aunt works.

Volunteers through the Catholic Community of South Pittsburgh (CSSP) which represents the grouping of Holy Apostles, Holy Angels, and Saint Sylvester parishes, will be distributing 1,200 meals on Sunday, May 3, 2020, with a mission of bringing the comfort of Jesus through comfort food during this challenging time.
