Functions of the Office for Facilities Management and Maintenance
Oversees parish major building construction and renovation projects including capital projects (e.g., boiler and roof replacement)
Assists parishes in the negotiation of professional service agreements and construction contracts.
Advises parishes on the selection of design professionals: architects, engineers, planners.
Advises parishes on the selection of construction delivery methods:Bid-Build, Design-Build, GMP, etc.
Advises parishes, the Diocesan General Secretary and Consultors on all matters related to the appraisal, leasing, purchasing, and disposal of real estate.
Advises the Diocesan General Secretary and Consultors on parish requests to expend sums of $40,000 or more for building renovation and construction.
Coordinates and conducts Diocesan Building Commission reviews of professional prepared plans for the construction and renovation of buildings.
Maintains facilities owned and operated by the Catholic Institute of Pittsburgh.
Coordinates all aspects of the demolition of buildings.
Assists the Diocesan Insurance Office in the management of claims pertaining to buildings.
Manages the Diocesan Asbestos Program which includes the inspection of active schools K-12 under the AHERA Regulation (Asbestos Hazard Emergency Responce Act) as well as the inspection/ Survey of Asbestos materials in all other buildings as related to renovation, maintenance and demotition projects.
Administers the Diocesan Warehouse for liturgical and secular goods.
