MISSIO is the official online platform of the Holy Father's own Pontifical Mission Societies that allows people to sponsor a fundraiser for an overseas Mission project or embrace an existing project located in some of the 1,100 Catholic Dioceses of Africa, Asia, Oceania and Latin America. Platform users can also show support by donating directly to a project or sharing information about projects via social media.
MISSIO offers you a place to encounter the Missions whenever and wherever you are. Launched by Pope Francis, MISSIO offers you a direct connection with his Missions and with those helping our mission family. Missio is an opportunity to choose how to put your faith into action, and a way to answer the call to each one of us who are baptized to be missionaries ourselves, through prayer and sacrifice, in word and deed.
The Pontifical Mission Societies in the United States, a 501(c)(3) corporation which is part of the Roman Catholic Church, created the MISSIO platform. Pope Francis launched MISSIO (the mobile app), from the Pontifical Mission Societies in May 2013 as a way to disseminate news of the heroic work being done over the world by Missionaries, local clergy and lay people. The latest version of MISSIO – expanded to include a new website – makes connecting with people and projects directly so much easier.
The MISSIO platform gives you multiple options to make a real difference in the lives of others and guarantees that 100% of the money you raise or donate goes directly to fund projects in Mission countries. Most importantly, MISSIO offers you an unfiltered experience of communicating and supporting people directly: we present all the necessary information as well as access to the project leaders, and let you decide how you want to engage. You can ask questions; learn about what is really going on.
