Child Care Driver and Teacher Aide

Summary:

The Childcare Driver and Teacher Aide is responsible for driving the children to/from school and special activities. This includes supervising children while on the bus, during activities, and/or in the classroom. Additional responsibilities include assisting teaching staff in the classroom. 

It is the duty of all employees to promote and support a resident centered care environment that ensures kind, compassionate treatment of all children, parents, family members, visitors, and fellow employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Commits to the Vincentian Collaborative System (VCS) mission to nurture and sustain a ministry of compassionate care that preserves the human dignity of persons within a diverse and changing society.
2. Upholds and promote the VCS values of spirituality, compassion, quality, dignity, collaboration, advocacy, stewardship and innovation.
3. Promotes and supports a person-centered care environment that ensures the treatment of all children, parents, family members, visitors, and fellow employees with kindness, respect, and dignity.
4. Adheres to all facility and department work rules, policies and procedures.
5. Provides excellent customer service while driving children to school and special activities. 
6. Assists children in and out of vehicles when needed, ensures that appropriate seat restraints are used where applicable, and escorts children when needed.
7. Provides transportation for other Vincentian ministries when needed.
8. Maintains good communication with Child Discovery Center Administration, classroom staff, parents and children to provide efficient and timely transportation to the children. This includes phone calls and text messages. 
9. Remain current on school bus schedules and children’s attendance.
10. Assist VCDC Administration and classroom staff with office and classroom tasks.
11. Clean and service vehicles with fuel, lubricants, and accessories and repot and coordinate vehicle maintenance repairs.
12. Establish and monitor daily and weekly trip inspection and preventative maintenance programs, as well as maintain records regarding the maintenance of all vehicles.
13. Keeps track of when scheduled maintenance/inspections are due. 
14. Work a flexible schedule. 10-25 hours weekly. 
15. Reports any problems/defects with vehicles to supervisor in a timely manner.
16. Maintain a safe driving record according to company policies.  
17. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

1. High school graduate or equivalent required.
2. Current/valid driver's license required.
3. Minimum of two years driving experience required.
4. Smart phone capability preferred to manage schedule.
