Bishop David Zubik asks prayers for the Tree of Life community

MEDIA ADVISORY: Interfaith service planned for October.

Bishop David Zubik of the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh is inviting all people to pray together for peace, healing and unity on the fifth anniversary of the massacre at the Tree of Life Synagogue.

To mark that anniversary, there will be an interfaith prayer service on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at 3:30 p.m. at Saint Paul Cathedral in Oakland.

“We must never forget our neighbors who died at the Tree of Life in 2018. We must commit ourselves to work together across all divisions of faith and culture to work for a world where such hatred is no longer imaginable,” said Bishop Zubik.

Bishop Zubik discussed the idea for an interfaith service with Rabbi Jeffrey Myers, who together with the victims’ families supported this coming together in prayerful observance.

More details of the October prayer service will be announced later.
