Bishop Zubik announces the following clergy appointment:
Pastor
The Reverend Lawrence D. Adams from Administrator (pro-tem) of Saint Mary Magdalene Parish, East End/Point Breeze/Wilkinsburg, and Saint Benedict the Moor Parish, Hill District to Pastor of Saint Mary Magdalene Parish, East End/Point Breeze/Wilkinsburg for a term of six (6) years, effective Wednesday, November 1, 2023. At the same time, Father Adams will continue his assignment as Associate General Secretary for Special Projects on a part-time basis.
Administrator
The Reverend C. Matthew Hawkins is appointed Administrator of Saint Benedict the Moor Personal Parish, Hill District, with residence at Epiphany Rectory of Divine Mercy Parish, Uptown, effective Monday, November 13, 2023. At the same time, Father Hawkins is relieved of his assignment as Parochial Vicar at Saint Mary Magdalene parish, East End/ Point Breeze/Wilkinsburg. Father Hawkins will continue his assignment as Chaplain (part-time) of Oakland Catholic High School.
Senior Parochial Vicar
The Reverend David H. Taylor’s assignment as Senior Parochial Vicar of Saint Benedict the Moor Parish, Hill District, is rescinded, effective Monday, November 13, 2023. At the same time Fr. Taylor remains as Senior Parochial Vicar of Saint Mary Magdalene Parish, East End/Point Breeze/Wilkinsburg.
Special Assignment
The Reverend Charles S. Bober is appointed Interim President of North Catholic High School effective October 18, 2023, and will expire on June 30, 2024. At the same time, Father Bober will maintain his assignment as Pastor of Saint Mark the Evangelist Parish.
Retirement
In accordance with the provision of the Priest Personnel Policy, and at his request, the Reverend Richard A. Infante is relieved of his responsibilities as Senior Parochial Vicar of Saint Paul of the Cross Parish, Castle Shannon, effective Friday, January 12, 2024. At the same time, Father Infante has been given permission to begin retirement and take up a private residence.
In accordance with the provisions of the Deacon Personnel Policy, and at his request, Deacon Elbert A. Kuhns has been granted permission to resign from his current assignment to the Ministry of Sacrament, Ministry of Word, and Ministry of Service and Charity at Saint Matthias Parish, Greene County, effective Wednesday, October 4, 2023.
