The Diocese of Pittsburgh has a tremendous reputation for hospitality. I know it well. When I came here 13 years ago as an auxiliary bishop, I received a warm and heartfelt welcome by the priests, deacons, religious, and lay faithful. When our Holy Father Pope Francis came on an apostolic visit to the United States in 2015, Catholics from the entire nation welcomed him. Welcoming and hospitality are important!
From June 12 through 19, no mere human person is coming to visit our diocese. Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is coming, truly present in the Most Blessed Sacrament, as the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage passes through the Diocese of Pittsburgh. Will you come out to welcome Him? Will you come to adore and love your Savior who gives us His Real and Substantial Presence in the Holy Eucharist?
Please check out the Pittsburgh itinerary of the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage here. Come to as many liturgies and events on the pilgrimage route as you can. Participate in Masses; pray at the Holy Hours; walk in the Eucharistic processions. Encourage your family members, friends and fellow parishioners to come as well. Click here to register for all the events you can attend. Even if you do not register, you can still come. Our Eucharistic Lord will be waiting for you to pour His grace and blessing upon you!
Let us all come out to welcome Our Eucharistic Lord and King to our beloved diocese! O, Come, let us adore Him!
Most Reverend William J. Waltersheid
Auxiliary Bishop of Pittsburgh
