The Pre-K–8 education programs at North American Martyrs School and Saint Bernadette School, both in Monroeville, and the Pre-K–8 education programs at Assumption School in Bellevue and Northside Catholic School in Brighton Heights will merge effective for the 2018-2019 school year. The Pre-K–8 education program at Saint Rosalia Academy in Greenfield will close at the end of this school year.

Elementary schools in the eastern part of the city and the surrounding suburbs will be the next to “regionalize” under the Roman Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh’s plan to consolidate schools and parishes.

An advisory board has been named to help lead Catholic elementary schools in Pittsburgh and the eastern suburbs in implementing a second regional education system in the diocese.
