Fertility Awareness Based Methods (FABMs) are researched and proven teaching models of how to practically use fertility awareness effectively. The models teach women how to make observations based on the naturally occurring signs of a woman's menstrual cycle. No drugs, devices, or surgical procedures are used to avoid pregnancy. From a scientific, medical standpoint, FABMs offer no adverse side effects and are effective in achieving and avoiding pregnancy. Learn more about the science here.
Fertility awareness based methods are embraced by many religions and cultures. When using it, married couples experience great communication and successful marriages. Studies show couples who practice fertility awareness stay married. In fact, among those who use FABMs, their success rate is 95% or higher. That means that married couples who use FABMs have a less than a 5% divorce rate.
In our diocese, there are instructional sessions for several different methods of fertilty awareness. Each method is morally in line with Catholic Church teaching, and is highly effective with successful outcomes.

Note: the CM-BBT Method is a strictly medical model and is presented from a secular perspective. In the class and follow up correspondence, Catholic Church teaching will not be addressed. Any questions regarding Catholic Church teaching will be referred back to the parish or diocese.
